In central Tanzania, assailants massacre a family of five

Unidentified intruders killed at least five members of the same family in Dodoma, Tanzania’s central region, authorities reported on Sunday.

The Dodoma regional police chief, the victims included a husband, wife, two children, and a granddaughter.

Initial investigations revealed that the victims were struck by heavy item.

The remains of the deceased have been transferred to a hospital for a postmortem to determine how they were killed.

Noah Kapande, a relative of the victims, told local media the bodies of the deceased were found in their house in Zanka village on Saturday at 4 p.m. local time by children who had gone to graze cattle near the house of the deceased.

He stated that following the postmortem, police would publish a statement, promising that they will not stop looking for the perpetrators.

Anthony Mtaka, the Dodoma regional commissioner, visited the scene on Sunday accompanied by the regional defense and security committee and urged the villagers and relatives to give cooperation in identifying the assailants.

“This incident might be done in collaboration with residents of this area and not a person from far. No one can come from far and kill five people of the same family without having enough information,” he said. Enditem
