Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed to Barcelona, on Sunday, to participate in the sixth regional forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, in addition to the third ministerial meeting of the European Union with the countries of the southern neighborhood.
A statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that Shoukry is set to stress the importance of the Union for the Mediterranean as an institutional framework for regional cooperation across the two shores of the Mediterranean Sea in several areas – particularly the environment, climate change, economic and social development, digital transformation and the exchange of technical expertise.
Shoukry will also confirm Egypt’s commitment to work with its partners within Euro-Mediterranean cooperation towards greater integration in accordance with the vision adopted by the countries of the Union since its inception in 2008.
During the third ministerial meeting of the European Union and the southern neighborhood, Shoukry will also present Egyptian priorities for cooperation with the European side in many fields based on joint ownership.
He will also emphasize the importance of increasing European investments in Egypt and the countries of the southern neighborhood, and enhancing the access of these exports to European markets to support their efforts in achieving development goals.
