Dekel Agri-Vision PLC plans to start full commercial production at its raw cashew nut processing plant in Ivory Coast this year after it bought a further stake to increase its interest in the project to 100%, it said on Tuesday.
The London-listed agriculture company said it increased its stake in the Tiebissou-based project by acquiring a 29.3% beneficial interest in Pearlside Holdings Ltd., the parent company of Capro CI SA, for 619,000 pounds ($763,165).
“With cashew processing operations in Tiebissou moving to commercial production on a large scale, we think this is the right time to increase our participation that we believe will diversify our revenues,” Dekel Agri-Vision General Manager Lincoln Moore said.
The cashew processing operation is currently transitioning to a full-scale commercial production, the company said. The facility aims to hit an initial processing capacity of 10,000 tons a year, with the potential for further capacity to be added through increasing its workforce, it said.
Dekel Agri-Vision holds a portfolio that also includes an established palm oil factory in Ayenouan.
