Concerns about a possible exclusion of Cameroon from the 2022 World Cup

Two weeks before the start of the World Cup, Cameroon and its federation are mired in a conflict that could cause them great harm. A dispute with their equipment supplier may even cost them their place at the 2022 World Cup.

After having lost the legal battle with “Le Coq Sportif”, the Indomitable Lions should participate in the World Cup with the French equipment manufacturer.

Indeed, the Paris Commercial Court has insisted that the Cameroonian selection wear “le Coq Sportif” uniforms at the 2022 World Cup.

But the leaders of FECAFOOT, led by Samuel Eto’o, decided otherwise. The contract with the French brand was terminated unilaterally.

Cameroon has therefore chosen to engage with the American firm One All Sport.

This new sponsor has already concocted the three sets of jerseys for the Cameroonians and they were presented this Saturday to the public despite FIFA warnings.

“Nothing will be like before!!”, the Cameroonian team tweeted.

According to reports, FIFA got involved in this case and supported the representatives of Le Coq Sportif who have decided not to terminate their contract.

However, Samuel Eto’o has teamed up with the American brand and intends to present his country at Qatar 2022 with these new tunics.

An attitude that may annoy the governing body of football in the world, to the point that an exclusion of the Lions from the competition may be considered.

In an interview with Actu Cameroun, the Cameroonian lawyer, Me Ntimbane Bono, said: “A refusal to execute the decision by Fecafoot could lead to the disqualification of Cameroon from this World Cup which. One should not be forget it’s a FIFA activity”, he warned.
