Sunderland have held talks with Manchester United about taking Amad Diallo on loan for the 2022-23 season.
It is understood that the Championship side are interested in the 20-year-old who has yet to feature for manager Erik ten Hag this season.
Amad has not been named in any of United’s squads so far this season and the Old Trafford club have been open to letting him leave on loan in order to get minutes elsewhere.
Last season the Ivory Coast winger was sent on loan to Rangers in the January transfer window. He made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish side and scored three goals during that time.
United signed Amad from Serie A side Atalanta in a deal worth £37million in 2020. At the time, United regarded him as one of the most exciting prospects in Italian football.
Sunderland are currently 14th in the Championship and have recently confirmed the appointment of Tony Mowbray as their new manager after Alex Neil left to join Stoke.
