Tanzania’s oil import costs rose by 66% in the 12 months to June compared with the prior-year period on account of both volume and price effect, the country’s central bank said late Thursday.

The oil import bill rose to $2.56 billion from $1.54 billion the prior year to June, the bank said in its July economic review.

The average price of crude oil in the global market rose by 68% to $89.16 a barrel, during the same period, the bank said.
