Virat Kohli steps down as the Indian test captain

South Africa vs India: India has gone on to suffer another blow after the catastrophic loss against South Africa. Indian test captain Virat Kohli has gone on to shock everyone with his unparallel decision.

Virat Kohli has gone on to step down from the post of test captaincy. This is a huge shocker from the 33-year-old as he was doing quite well in test cricket as the Indian test captain.

The Delhi-born went on to achieve a lot of things as the Indian test captain. During his tenure, India fearlessly won the test series for the first time. India won the test series by 2-1 in 2018 which brought a new wave to India’s dominance.

Though Virat Kohli was not part of the team last year when India went against Australia. But still, the team went on to win the series by 2-1. This went on to happen for the second consecutive time in the history of Indian test cricket.

His contribution has been immense in the domination of the Indian team. He brought a new aggressive dimension to Indian cricket recently.

Virat Kohli went on to announce he’s stepping down from the test captaincy after a wasteful test series in South Africa. The men in blue lost the test series by 2-1 after a failed approach in the Indian batting lineup.

The Indian test captain has gone on to announce his stepping down from the captaincy through social media.

It was quite a shocker how he did it when no one expected it on Saturday. But Virat Kohli’s legacy will always remain as the test captain.

He wrote, “There have been many ups and also some downs along the journey, but never has there been a lack of effort or lack of belief. I have always believed in giving my 120 percent in everything I do, and if I can’t do that, I know it’s not the right thing to do.”

He further added, “I want to thank the BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead my country for such a long period of time and more importantly to all the teammates who bought into the vision I had for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation.”

Virat Kohli also thanked the likes of Ravi Shastri and MS Dhoni for their contribution. He wrote, “Lastly, a big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as a captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian Cricket forward.”
